Galleri Charlotte Lund is pleased to present Denise Grünstein’s third solo exhibition at the gallery.
Grünstein will exhibit a new photographic series “Figure Out” consisting of ten large-scale color photographs and her first video work, titled “Film Stills”. The poetic style that distinguishes Grünstein’s visual language now also embodies an air of simplicity. The character in her dreamlike depictions hides herself in hair in a mysterious and elusive way.
In comparison to Grünstein’s earlier works, the light in the new series is of a more exposing and raw fashion. Grünstein works in a precise manner using a traditional large format camera and color negative film to achieve maximum wealth of detail in her photographs.
Denise Grünstein, born 1950 in Helsinki, lives and works in Stockholm. Among her solo exhibitions are “Figure in Landscape” at Moderna Museet in Stockholm and “Malplacé” at Hasselblad Center, Gothenburg. She is currently participating in the group exhibition “Friedrich, Eight Contemporary Commentaries” at Nationalmuseum, Stockholm. Grünstein will have a large solo exhibition at Kiasma Helsinki and Kristinehamns konstmuseum, next spring.
During the course of the exhibition the gallery will organize an artist talk with Denise Grünstein and a guest.
